HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Many moons ago in primary school, being cast as 'Gloria' in the school rendition of The Rocky Horror Monster Show, I thought I'd made it.

During one of the show's first performances, some of my fellow thespian's stumbled upon their lines, and after a nail-biting silence, I stepped in, whispering the forgotten lines and directing my fellow actors into position, saving the performance from disaster.

​When recalling this memory, my mum always states, (much to my embarrassment); "I always knew you were destined to be a director, bossing those other children around on stage". And whilst I may not have known it at the time, she was right.
CREATIVE Vision
Having studied an MA in filmmaking at the Raindance Film Institute, my skill set developed learning from industry mentors and advisors from across the globe, who recognise and support my creative vision as an individual artist.

As a director I strive for authenticity within my work, being a female British Turkish-Cypriot, the aim is to visually tell stories through my unique perspective, with the intention to impart meaning, connection and intrigue into the worlds and characters portrayed.​ My films often appropriate my own lived experiences to enhance their realistic nature, addressing these common experiences I draw into question the deeper psychological impact generated outwardly and subconsciously on a given topic.
My debut short Traces demonstrates this directorial style, its visual concept focuses on the consumption of an intoxicating yet naturalistic relationship and the disconnection felt when at risk of losing it. Traces was nominated for Best UK Short at Love Story Film Festival 2023, receiving an Honourable Mention. It screened at 11 film festivals internationally, including Indy Film Fest & New York Shorts International Film Festival.
ON GOing Mission
My ongoing aim throughout my work is to portray thought-provoking life experiences through unique and unchartered perspectives.
With my heritage deriving from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognised only by Turkey as an independent state, I understand the feeling of not being heard or considered. This is something I would like to change through my work, in every capacity.
